She/Her
Suzie Graham Valdivieso is a dedicated field and conservation biologist whose passion
for nature has guided her diverse career. She holds a B.S. in Biology from San Diego
State University, an M.S. in Zoology from the University of Washington, and an M.S. in
Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England. Currently pursuing her
Ph.D. at Antioch University, her research focuses on human nature connection.
From oceans to forests and coral reefs, Suzie has trained as a naturalist across the
United States and abroad. She has worked in a variety of ecosystems and with
numerous protected species, including marine mammals, grizzly bears, sea turtles,
fishes, and abalone. As a conservation geneticist, she has applied genetic research to
the study and protection of endangered species. Her commitment to conservation has
taken her to remote field sites, where she has focused on preserving biodiversity. Her
fieldwork includes leading blue whale surveys in Southern California, studying salmon in
the Pacific Northwest, and conducting coral reef research. Her professional work has
taken her from the Smithsonian Institution to fieldwork with sea turtles on the beaches of
Baja California.
As an accomplished scientist, Suzie has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and
technical reports in marine biology, conservation genetics, and environmental science,
bridging academic research with practical conservation efforts. She has taught and
guided undergraduate and graduate students in biology and environmental science,
honing her ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and foster personal growth.
At Daydream MD, she combines her educational background with her hands-on field
experience, to lead transformative nature practices and immersions in San Diego. Suzie
helps participants connect with the natural world, using her expertise to guide them
toward calm, clarity, and balance. This unique combination of teaching, research, and
fieldwork allows her to offer a deeply informed, immersive experience to clients seeking
a meaningful connection with nature.
